SU Holiday Clubs

What is a holiday club?

A five day evangelistic activity aimed at reaching out to churched and unchurched children with the gospel of Jesus Christ, in the context of their families, communities and churches, by a team of trained and committed Christians, who are acquainted with the values of SU.

Typically Holiday Clubs are run from community centres, halls or churches, with the youngsters forming part of a small group (1 leader to 8 youngsters). Holiday Clubs usually follow a particular theme. They can also be used to focus on special aspects, such as HIV and AIDS awareness, sport, other lifeskills, or any other need presenting that is relevant to the community.

Our Vision

To run a programme of Holiday Clubs in all communities in South Africa, each mid-year. We aim to run these clubs in such a way that an increasing number of teenagers and children are led into the Kingdom of God.

Venues

We aim to get the best venues and facilities for the children so that they can be comfortable and are able to have the most wonderful time of their lives. If we don’t get the best, it might mean that they might have to play their games out in the cold or be outside for some part of the club. That might not bring them back the next day. Where no venue is available, you need to use your initiative and arrange for it to be outside if the weather is good.

The ideal would be:

• A big hall for the time they all gather for hall time where they sing, learn memory verses and see drama, etc
  
  
• Field for games
  
  
• Classrooms for section time or if not at a school, there needs to be other small venues for when they break up into the different age group sections
  
  
• Toilet facilities
  
  
• Kitchen if you are going to provide food
  
  
• If it is a residential club, there needs to be good facilities for the leaders to sleep in and showering facilities. You might need a kitchen for their meals as well
  
  
• The hall can be used for the parent’s evening programme
