Afternoon at the Opera

And what an afternoon it was! On Sunday 18 May 2008 a host of Scripture Union staff members and supporters were treated to an afternoon of wonderful singing. The Cape Town Opera Voice of the Nation delighted us with various arias from popular operas such as Nubucco, La Traviata and Carmen to name a few. The event took place in the Memorial Chapel of the Diocesan College (Bishops).

The ensemble was led by Albert Horne, the choir master. The ensemble sung spirituals and African American pieces in the second half of the programme, ending the afternoon with the popular and incredibly moving hallelujah chorus. There was not a dry eye in the audience.

Attending the function were Garnet de la Hunt (SU National Chairman) and his wife Virginia. All the funds raised will be used to further the programmes of SU around the country
