SU Values

Super Camp 2007

Dependence on God
In everything we do in SU, we are committed to an obvious, practical dependence on God. In all our activities and committees there will be a practical acknowledgement of the Lordship of Christ and a reliance on the leading of God’s Spirit, especially through Scripture and prayer.

Bible based
Our conviction that the Bible is divinely inspired and the supreme authority for faith and life will be seen through a persistent emphasis on disciplined regular Bible reading and a practical, daily obedience to the Word of God. All SU activities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with this emphasis.

Evangelistic Zeal
Our deep longing that children and young people should be brought to Christ means that our evangelism will have a sense of urgency. Wherever possible, with proper teaching, we will encourage and challenge them to become Christians and to grow in holiness, in participation in Church life and social awareness. Our evangelism will be sensitive, respecting both the individual and the family.

People of Orientation
Our Biblically derived belief is that all people are precious to God. This will be seen through our respect for the individual, our concern for the whole person, and our winning the right to speak. It will also be reflected in our choice of staff who will be ‘people’ people.

Commitment to excellence
We are committed to high standards and to giving our best, because we serve God who “does all things well. For this reason we will recruit leaders of high calibre and train them well.

Partnership
We are committed to partnership between staff and voluntary workers. An effective balance of ‘leading’ and ‘following’ characterises their mutual inter-dependence. The staff will be both leaders and enablers, making it possible for large numbers of voluntary workers to be active in the work.

Responsiveness and Innovation
We are committed to match changing needs and times with exciting and innovative ideas and programmes. Our response to change should, however, be tempered with perseverance. We are committed to imitating Christ by our attitude of servanthood to God, the Church and people in general.

Responsible financial policy
We will sensitively share the needs of the work with supporters and potential supporters. In general, we will not spend money that we cannot reasonably expect to receive. Nevertheless, we will be open to stepping out in faith, under the guidance of God’s spirit.
